Platform overview
fal describes itself as a generative media platform for developers, covering image, video, 3D and audio models. The company states that over 1,000 generative media models are production-ready on the platform, reachable with one account and one key. Its stated points of difference are a proprietary inference engine for diffusion models, on-demand GPUs and serverless deployments, and a developer-first interface. fal is registered as Features & Labels Inc.
- 1000+ generative media models
- image, video, 3D and audio modalities
- single API key across all models
- inference engine built for diffusion models
- legal name: Features & Labels Inc.
Products and services
The platform is organised into three product lines. fal Model APIs offer hosted access to hundreds of models through one API; fal Serverless scales custom models and applications to thousands of GPUs; and fal Compute is a fully controlled GPU cloud aimed at enterprise AI training and research. The compute tier is described as running thousands of NVIDIA Blackwell chips with a proprietary distributed data-feeding engine for large-scale training workloads.
- fal Model APIs — one API, hundreds of models
- fal Serverless — scale custom models and apps to thousands of GPUs
- fal Compute — GPU cloud for enterprise training and research
- H100s, H200s and B200s starting at $1.89
- observability toolchain for monitoring workloads
Access methods and developer tooling
Models on fal can be reached in several ways beyond the REST API. Documentation for Seedance 2.5 lists six routes: the playground, fal Agent, Sandbox, the API, an MCP server and two command line tools. In code, calls are made through the @fal-ai/client SDK, where switching model is a change to the endpoint string. fal also publishes loratlas, a browsable library of over 1,500 Krea 2 style LoRAs that can be tried in the browser using a fal key.
- playground for prompt iteration
- fal Agent (paid plan, pricing starts from $200/month)
- Sandbox for model evaluation
- REST API with the @fal-ai/client SDK
- MCP server for coding assistants
- two command line tools
- loratlas LoRA library
Billing model
fal uses pay-per-use pricing with no plan and no minimum spend across its model catalogue. Billing units vary by model type: video models are generally billed per second of output or on output tokens, while image models bill per output image or per megapixel and LoRA training bills by the step. Published examples include Seedance 2.5 at roughly $0.4730 per second at 720p, Seedream 5.0 Pro at $0.0675 per image below 1536x1536, and Krea 2 LoRA training at about $3.00 for a 1,000-step run.
- no subscription or minimum spend
- per-second billing on many video endpoints
- per-image or per-megapixel billing on image endpoints
- training billed by the step
Model catalogue
The catalogue spans video, image, music and background-removal models from a range of labs, all served behind the same interface. Video models documented on fal include Seedance 2.5 and 2.0, MiniMax H3, LTX-2.5, FLUX 3, Kling O3 Pro, Happy Horse 1.0 and Veo 3.1. Image models include Seedream 5.0 Pro, GPT Image 2, Nano Banana 2 and Krea 2, while music work is covered by Lyria 3 Pro, MiniMax Music 2.6 and Eleven Music. Background removal endpoints include Pixelcut Product Photo, Pixelcut Background Removal and Bria RMBG 2.0. fal states that it was a Day 0 partner for MiniMax H3.
Enterprise offering
fal states that it powers AI features for public companies and hypergrowth startups. Its enterprise tier lists SOC 2 compliance, single sign-on, private endpoints, usage analytics and 24/7 priority support. The fal Compute product extends this with enterprise-grade reliability and scale for frontier research labs running large training workloads.
- SOC 2
- Single Sign-On
- Private endpoints
- Usage analytics
- 24/7 priority support
Location and contact
fal operates from San Francisco, California, at postcode 94105 in the United States. The platform is published at fal.ai, and support enquiries are handled by email.
